GE Senographe Essential

full-field digital mammography (FFDM)

GE Senographe Essential

Refurbished GE Senographe Essential — GE Healthcare's widely deployed full-field digital mammography (FFDM) platform and the workhorse 2D mammography system across thousands of outpatient and hospital breast imaging programs. Built around a CsI/amorphous-silicon direct-digital flat-panel detector with a 24×31 cm field of view, the Senographe Essential pairs GE's AOP (Automatic Optimization of Parameters) exposure-control system with standard GE compression paddles, full DICOM Modality Worklist support, and DICOM Print/Storage workflow integration. Typical clinical scope covers screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, and image-guided procedures (with the appropriate biopsy add-on by configuration). The Essential is a 2D-only system — it does NOT perform digital breast tomosynthesis (3D) imaging. Compared to a Hologic Selenia Dimensions 3D, the Senographe Essential gives up tomosynthesis and C-View synthesized 2D in exchange for a meaningfully lower acquisition cost, simpler workflow, and a smaller siting footprint. Strong fit for breast imaging centers that need a clinically capable 2D FFDM at a value price, GE-standardized hospitals that prefer a single-vendor service ecosystem, and international markets where 2D screening is the standard of care. As a refurbisher, MIS handles sourcing, refurbishment, deinstall, transport, install, ACR/MQSA calibration, applications training, parts inventory, and engineer-led service. Mobile-leasing options are on the 2026 roadmap for mammography.
